I am an artist and graphic designer living in Florence, Massachusetts and a third generation Connecticut River valley native. Towns along the river in western Massachusetts have always been my home. I make prints and books that tell stories with or without words. I was drawn to black and white because my father’s photographs showed me that color was unnecessary. In my art practice I embrace the clarity of reduction and editing. I exhibit my work throughout the U.S. In 2020, I received a Mass Cultural Council Fellowship/Finalist Award in drawing and printmaking. My books have been recognized with Best of Show and Juror's Choice awards. My work is in many private collections as well as in the permanent collections of Bainbridge Island Museum of Art, Hampshire College Library, Montefiore Medical Center, New York Public Library, Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library, University of Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art, University of Michigan, University of Utah Marriott Library Special Collections, University of Washington Library, Wheaton College, and Yale University Library. I am a member of Zea Mays Printmaking studio in Florence, Massachusetts which is dedicated to safe and sustainable printmaking practices. I am represented in their Flat File project. —Tekla McInerney |
